Kontron Introduces Intel® CoreTM2 Duo Processor on CompactPCI 6U Board

The Kontron CP601264 CompactPCI processor board features innovative Intel® Multi-Core and 64-bit technology

(PresseBox) (Eching/München, )
Kontron today announced that its Kontron CP6012 CompactPCI processor board is now available with the Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo processor in addition to the Intel® CoreTM Duo processor. Renamed the Kontron CP601264, this latest Kontron CompactPCI board meets the highest performance standards and, in combination with the Intel® E7520 chipset, manages data throughput with server quality. The PICMG 2.16-compatible Kontron CP601264 features an L2 cache that is twice as large (4 MB), a much improved internal architecture, and 64-bit Intel® technology for increased performance over the Intel® Core™ Duo option.

Designed for bandwidth-intensive applications, the Kontron CP601264 provides hot swap and IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) support, and meets the highest standards for the management of high-availability applications. This makes this board exceptionally attractive to multiple markets, including, highly sensitive, security-relevant telecom and datacom applications and, thanks to its robust construction, is also ideal for image-processing systems in medical technology (tomography) systems, among many other vertical segments.

Versatile and maximum MIPS per Watt
The Kontron CP601264 is offered with the 2.16 GHz T7400 or the low-voltage 1.5 GHz L7400 processor, delivering the industry's highest multi-core performance within the lowest power envelope. Highly integrated, the Kontron CP601264 is designed with the latest interface technologies such as: PCI-Express, up to 4 GByte/400 MHz DDR2 SODIMM of main storage (6.4 GByte/sec throughput), 4 GBit-Ethernet, 2 x SATA interfaces, and a maximum of 4 x USB 2.0, 2 x COM and VGA, and rear I/O-support. The high performance requirements of communications applications are handled optimally by means of the 4-GBit Ethernet interfaces (two for the backplane / two on the front) connected via PCI Express. One of the two available SATA ports can be used for an onboard 2.5" SATA hard drive, with the additional support for an available CompactFlash socket completes the feature set.

There is room for customized expansions on an XMC (via PCI-Express) or alternatively a PMC-slot for mezzanine cards. The Kontron CP601264 offers sufficient graphic performance (VGA/CRT 1600 x 1200 pixels with 85Hz) thanks to the ATI ES1000. The CPU board is offered with either Linux, Windows XP, XP embedded, or Windows Server, and works in the system and peripheral slot, enabling effortless integration among scalable multi-CPU systems.

Availability
The Kontron CP601264 with Intel® Core™2 Duo processors will be in production by Q2/2007.
Samples are available by request.
