Als Ultra­sportler (Triathlon) schwamm er im Team den Ärmelkanal und ist seit 2008 ist ein begeisterter Eisschwimmer. In Burghausen absolvierte er die 1000 Meter. Seit 2014 begleitete er bereits über 100 Menschen beim Eisschwimmen und führt regelmäßig Seminare bei Schwimmvereinen und Landesschwimmverbänden zum Thema Eis­schwimmen durch. 

Der Landesschwimmverband Niedersachsen und andere Vereine setzen auf den erfahrenen Schwimm-Coach und Eisschwimmer.
