The new KOMET KUB Centron® Powerline is based on the KOMET KUB Centron® core bit drills which have been tried and tested over many years. The tools are specially designed to ensure long length/diameter ratios. In comparison with the classic, single-edge KOMET KUB Centron®, the KOMET GROUP, with the new Powerline, has developed double-edged tools for the deep hole segment (up to 9xD). The most significant change was in the field of indexable inserts. The Quatron indexable insert with four cutting edges is the only tool of its kind. Well-known for their high performance, the indexable inserts from KOMET® have already been proving their power for years in the most varied applications and tools.
Depending on the diameter, each of the KOMET KUB Centron® Powerline core bits is equipped with two, four or six of these indexable inserts. Adjustment to the tool diameter, i.e. hole diameter, is made possible using a combination of different indexable insert sizes, and more precisely via a diameter adjustment to the centring tip. Dividing the cutting between two effective cutting edges achieves very short overall chip formation, even on materials that are extremely difficult to machine. The tried and tested cutting geometries ensure that the drilling process is stable. Maximum tool life is achieved thanks to the most modern cutting tool materials and coatings. In this regard, the existing Quatron indexable insert variants make it possible to machine in all common materials.
A further benefit of the KOMET KUB Centron® Powerline is that guide elements such as those seen on the KOMET KUB Centron® are not required at all.
