With the commissioning of the GRM - the first in Mexico for 10 years - Pochteca has responded to the increasing demands of the growing Mexican market. "This new machine allows our customer to significantly improve the quality of its products and the efficiency of the process," explains Sven Grünwoldt, Sales Director at Körber PaperLink America Latina. The automation of the process reduces the need for manual activities and the risk of producing waste. Production capacity has increased by more than 50 percent because the GRM means Pochteca can now produce the same tonnage in two shifts than in three shifts previously. Pochteca passes on these benefits to its customers: with excellent products at competitive prices.
Fast, efficient and easy to maintain
With a throughput rate of 17 reams per minute, the currently fastest foliosize reamwrapping machine produces reams of a consistently high quality: They are solidly packed and uniformly glued with an identical appearance. The machine is equipped with reliable standard components from reputable partners, such as electronic components from Siemens, gearmotors from SEW Eurodrive and a pneumatic controller from Festo, for example. The ergonomic design of the GRM makes it easier to access all areas. This is also helpful in regard to problemfree maintenance such as straightforward fault analysis on the touchscreen.
The size can be changed in one to a maximum of five minutes. Trimming of the packing material in the machine also allows standard reels to be used for a wide variety of sizes: There is no need to change the reel width. Pemco also simplifies machine operation so that just one person can control the entire system.
The GRM catapults the Mexican market for foliosize paper products into a new era. The high efficiency of the machine and the dependable topquality product may also persuade other converters to automate their production processes in order to remain competitive.
