DCbook - Flexible converting solutions for digital book production

(PresseBox) (Hamburg, )
E.C.H. Will GmbH will launch a new machine concept for producing books from digitally printed paper webs at the digi:media show in Düsseldorf, Germany from April 7 to 9, 2011.

With DCbook, E.C.H. Will offers an innovative process that allows an industrial and cost-efficient production of digitally printed books. The machine produces the final book block made up of separate sheets from printed paper webs.

The machine can be combined inline with a digital printing system and a binding line. This allows the final book to be produced in one integrated, highly efficient process.

With machine layouts in working widths from 1,000 to 1,600 mm and today's processing speed of 300 m/min, up to 12,000 books per hour can be produced under production conditions.

"Our new machine concept is ideal for medium-size and large businesses in the printing industry who focus on industrial, short-run and high volume digital book production," explains Klaus Aarestrup, Chairman of the Management Board of E.C.H. Will.

"Digital printing is taking huge steps towards the performance capability of conventional printing systems. We see a great need for size flexible, integrated solutions for the just-in-time production for small to medium editions, but at the same time, providing the ability to produce high production volumes," says Aarestrup. Today's converting solutions allow either short run, low volume production or medium to long run, large volume production. DCBOOK is the first solution to combine the best of both worlds, all in an industrial build solution. With DCbook, E.C.H. Will is presenting a solution which transfers the digitalization from printing towards converting on an industrial level.

DCbook is a solution with a wide size range, high level of automation and short set-up times. The machine concept eliminates administrative and unproductive processes such as folding and in-house logistics and minimizes paper waste.
