Easibind achieves amazing 3D innovation with KODAK MAGNUS 400 III Platesetter and KODAK ELECTRA XD Thermal Plates

Print Media company pushes the boundaries of innovation with print and screen based solutions

(PresseBox) (Geneva, Switzerland, )
Easibind, the international print media specialist is achieving amazing innovative results with its recently installed KODAK MAGNUS 400 III Platesetter and KODAK ELECTRA XD Thermal Plates. Imaging at 4800dpi, Kodak's plate technology is supporting Easibind's Visual Active Range of HD, 3D and Animated products. Easibind's business is focused on the design and production of print media for branding and recognition markets and applications - including point of sale and display, promotional packaging, document presentation and personalised direct marketing icons. Easibind is also using a suite of KODAK Software including KODAK PRINERGY POWERPACK Workflow System for Packaging Production, KODAK MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing System and KODAK INSITE Storefront System for web to print and online educational initiatives for schools and colleges.

Harry Skidmore, Easibind CEO states: "Innovation will keep us moving forward. Our key objective is to respond to the emerging markets which are forcing the pace. We spend a proportion of our time researching worldwide trends and progress in consumer electronics and print media technologies. We employ students and graduates to help us with the research and development of new materials and substrates - it's a science. We believe Print Media technologies are keeping pace and complementing Screen based media technologies."

Easibind is using the KODAK MAGNUS 400 III Platesetter imaging KODAK ELECTRA XD Plates to achieve new levels of fine print. The company is using the advancements of Kodak's plate technology to produce sharp, defined images with no distortion on a 3D 500micron lens which can then be applied to any substrate for many applications including security. Mr Skidmore continues, "There is a race on. The emerging plate technologies are challenging the quality and diversity of print. Here at Easibind, we want to inspire, to invest. With the KODAK ELECTRA Plate technology we can print on 500 micron material. This is nano-technology with a pin-head dot. Kodak is motivating the market with its photo-gravure quality results on a litho plate. We can register pin head patterns of ink onto a thin 500 micron lens that magnifies 6000 times without distortion giving amazing depth and clarity. This is a true test of the KODAK Plate Technology with photogravure results using litho plate technology."

Easibind was established in 1977 and now employs 85 staff at its site at Heanor in Derbyshire. The privately owned independent company offers Innovation, Design and Materials Technology as a total solution for print media in diverse and branded markets. Embracing the leadership in Screen Media based technology and driving Print Media based technology, Easibind integrates both to produce Mixed Media Campaigns to sell 'through the line' solutions - in retail spaces, public spaces and direct marketing.

The investment in KODAK prepress hardware and software at Easibind has brought complete control in-house for the innovative company. With a wide customer base of print managers, contract stationers and creative agencies responsible for mixed media campaigns, Easibind has invested over £2m over the last five years. Skidmore concludes, "With Kodak technology and Easibind innovation we are at the forefront of developing markets and applications and perfectly positioned to stimulate creative ideas and solutions utilising all media options."
