Ziel der Förderung und Beteiligung an Forschungsprojekten durch das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) ist es, die IT-Industrie in Deutschland und insbesondere die IT-Sicherheit weiterzuentwickeln. Im Projekt SINNODIUM beschäftigt sich KOBIL mit der Absicherung von emergenter Software auf mobilen Endgeräten, sowie mit der Absicherung mobiler Apps von Partnern und mit sicherer Authentisierung bei Online-Diensten. Die Absicherung erfolgt mithilfe des neu entwickelten Produkts KOBIL Application Security Technology (AST), das innerhalb des Projekts weiterentwickelt und angepasst wird.
Insgesamt sind an dem Projekt SINNODIUM 28 Partner beteiligt u. a. SAP, Software AG und einige Fraunhofer Institute. In seinen Arbeitspaketen kooperiert KOBIL mit Sirrix AG, TU Darmstadt, vwd, Fraunhofer IESE, Scheer Management GmbH, Universität Saarlands (Intel Visual Computing Institute). Ziel und Vorteil der Projektarbeit ist es, Synergien zwischen den Partnern zu erzielen z. B. das technologische Wissen von KOBIL und das Anwendungswissen der Industriepartner, zusätzlich die Forschungsergebnisse von Universitäten und Forschungsinstituten.
KOBIL war ebenfalls in das Software-Cluster Projekte EMERGENT involviert, das mittlerweile erfolgreich abgeschlossen ist.
SINNODIUM ist am 01.02.2013 gestartet und die Förderung von BMBF läuft über 2 Jahre.
