Knorr-Bremse TruckServices, the aftermarket specialists in the Commercial Vehicle Systems division of Knorr-Bremse, the global market leader for braking systems and a leading supplier of other safety-critical rail and commercial vehicle systems, and SEG Automotive, the world’s leading supplier of starter motors and generators for commercial vehicles, are entering into a partnership that will offer extensive benefits for their customers in the commercial vehicle sector.

Through this partnership, Knorr-Bremse TruckServices is adding starter motors and generators to what is already an extensive product portfolio in the brakes and powertrain segment. These products are core components of the electronics system and powertrain, making them essential to the operation, safety and comfort of the vehicle.

SEG Automotive stands for more than a century of innovations in the mobility sector: from starter motor and generator to Start/Stop and mild-hybridization for cars and commercial vehicles. As a long-standing market leader, SEG Automotive enjoys global renown for its reliable, fuel-saving commercial vehicle starter motors and generators for all applications. The knowledge derived from cross-product-group research and development in Germany and from applications engineering on site with the customer are decisive factors in the company’s technology leadership. The high quality performance of the products in the field reflects this. With add-ons such as corrosion protection, effective dust filters and individually configurable performance features, SEG Automotive offers the right solutions for every commercial vehicle application, both on- and off-highway. These include a family of heavy-duty generators that have been shaping the commercial vehicle market for the past 15 years and more.

As Wolfgang Krinner, Member of the Board of Knorr-Bremse Commercial Vehicle Systems explains: “From the fall of 2019, Knorr-Bremse will be offering SEG starter motors and generators for sale in the EMEA region, rounding out the TruckServices portfolio. Our partnership with technology leader SEG Automotive is the ideal step for Knorr-Bremse: The expertise and product structure of the two companies make the perfect match. Our partnership with SEG Automotive forms part of the strategic development of Knorr-Bremse’s commitment to the aftermarket. We are the leading solution supplier here with an extensive range of services that we are pleased to offer in the context of a partnership for high quality products such as those of SEG.”

Alexander Wagner, Sales & Marketing Aftermarket EMEA of Knorr-Bremse Truckservices adds: “Customers will benefit from the added efficiency of having Knorr-Bremse TruckServices as a central contact, rapid availability thanks to the extensive Knorr-Bremse TruckServices logistics network, its broad technical support, and optimized total cost of ownership owing to the comprehensive range of products available for all phases of the vehicle lifetime.” Along with these benefits, all of the other familiar services from TruckServices will be available and activated for the SEG product portfolio, including extensive product documentation, product training courses, end-of-life-part returns and warranty processes.

In the words of Hans-Joachim Kuppel, Chief Sales Officer at SEG Automotive: “Through this collaboration, SEG Automotive is further expanding its activities in the commercial vehicle sector and the aftermarket business. Our partnership will leverage synergies and the customer stands to benefit from robust genuine products of OE quality manufactured by the market leader and delivered through a sales and service partner who enjoys its trust.”

SEG Automotive is closely linked to the history of the automobile. Emerging from the BOSCH Starter Motors & Generators division in 2018, the company stands for more than a century of innovations in this product sector: from starter motor and generator to Start/Stop and mild-hybridization. SEG Automotive is actively shaping the automobile industry's journey from the combustion engine to electrification by delivering efficient solutions for CO2 reduction – regardless of the drive technology. With 16 locations in the most important automobile markets in the world and over 8,000 employees, SEG Automotive offers a network that guarantees the highest level of engineering and production expertise worldwide – from Germany to China. Technology leadership and highest quality standards set the products apart: almost all automotive OEMs worldwide are relying on SEG Automotive's tailored solutions for passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
