Next generation and advanced visualization for PLM systems
KISTERS 3DViewStation adds significant value to desktops, mobile devices with browsers and VR
“KISTERS 3DViewStation has been developed based on customer requirements from day one. Having been a reseller for several CAD viewing products, we understand our customers very well and had seen their suffering. They would call us when they did not get the response they expected from the vendor when they asked for certain new, or modified functionalities. In other cases, the functionality provided matched their needs, but the user experience was unacceptable. This was often due to outdated, too static UIs or the inability to support current technologies like Web or VR.” said Kelly Baumann, KISTERS North America Business Development Manager. “Today KISTERS 3DViewStation is a product family that gives customers the choice to use a desktop, a web based or a VR product. All of which are comparable in terms of functionalities and APIs, as they all share the same graphics kernel, developed by and unique to KISTERS. Our priorities were always: ease of use as well as high level APIs for easy integration. Over the last ten years we added more and more functions and features, in order for users to have choices. There are 180+ functions, with 150+ settings.”
“In the meantime, customers benefit from integrations with various PLM systems such as: Aras Innovator, Dassault 3DExperience platform, SmarTeam, Siemens TeamCenter, ActiveWorkspace, SAP DMS, CAD-Desktop, ECTR, Contact CimDatabase and soon we will offer Windchill” she added. “These customers enjoy very short load times and extremely fast visualization performance, even on very complex CAD models consisting of millions of parts. Seamless integrations show 3DViewStation embedded in the UI of the PLM client or running with its own, full or customized UI. This allows use of all or a limited number of the 180+ functions, including graphical compare and review processes leveraging a discussion thread. We have more than 3000 companies using our software and we often are told that we provide exactly what they need. Finally, we are really proud of our integrations. Users can start a KISTERS VR-Edition session instantly from the PLM system, record any issues via voice recognition, automatically add preview images and comments to a PLM work item, forward this to the next user, then they might use our 3DViewStation WebViewer or Desktop version for review and finally use the CAD system in resolving the issue.”
Known for its modern user-interface, high performance viewing, advanced analysis and integration capabilities into leading systems, 3DViewStation ships with current and mature importers for a broad range of 3D and 2D formats including i.e. Catia, NX, Creo, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, Inventor, Revit, JT, 3D-PDF, STEP, DWG, DXF, DWF, MS Office and many more.

According to Baumann, KISTERS 3DViewStation is continuously enhanced in response to customer needs and requirements. It is available as Desktop, ActiveX, VR-Edition and HTML5 WebViewer product-versions. All product flavors are intended to be used together with a PLM, ERP or other management system product configuration or service and spare part applications, providing all necessary APIs. For cloud, portal and web-solutions, there is an HTML5-based WebViewer solution available, which does not require client installation. All file formats can be used in combination with the intelligent navigation and hyperlinking features to address the needs of complex integration scenarios.
