The new Tramino trams will be 36 metres long, 2.30 metres wide and designed as four part vehicles. The one-direction vehicles have 90 seats and room for 121 standing passengers.
Braunschweiger Verkehrs-AG's technical and operational requirements will be closely adhered: the vehicles will have eight axles, five of which will be driven. With the aid of the additional traction unit, the fifth driven axle will supply an improved adhesion performance. The Traminos can be equipped with supercaps acting as energy storage capacitors which can buffer the surplus brake energy and then release it when required. Altogether, Vossloh will be supplying the traction inverters and static converters, the heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems, the passenger information systems, video surveillance and the central on-board computers.
Experience gained from Jenaer Nahverkehr GmbH - who ordered the three-part Tramino Jena vehicles in 2011 (currently in production) - was useful during the development of the new low-floor trams.
