For this reason the new low-floor vehicles will be equipped with diesel generator sets in accordance with the Euro 6 standard. The modern buses stand out due to their low energy consumption, which is achieved by way of supercaps. These energy storage units store surplus brake energy and make it available again for the next acceleration.
The buses are also going to be equipped with an automatic guidance system, which makes it possible to approach a stopping point safely and exactly, i.e. gaps towards the pavement are avoided and people with restricted mobility can therefore also board the buses easily. The 18 m long trolleybuses offer space for altogether 140 passengers. It is the intention to put the state-of-the-art vehicles into service in 2015 when the construction work of the two new lines has been finished.
