Also the OC 200 single card printing press became the focus of interest of the visitors from Eastern Europe. As long as the small plastic card in everyone's wallet follows us around and makes it easier to consume, a printing technology will be needed that can print the many different types of ISO standard format cards (85.5 x 54mm) in offset quality: credit cards, telephone cards, membership cards, club cards, discount cards, health insurance cards, and many more. KBA-Metronic's OC 200 is a modular printing press, which, depending on customer requirements, can be extended to up to six print modules and a primer units. A varnishing unit with an additional paternoster line for high gloss levels can be added as an option. The machine can print single or double sided cards in check card format, and it is equipped with the same waterless short inking technology as other KBA-Metronic printing systems for sheet printing and for use on CD, DVD and Blu-ray discs.
The Universys personalization system for instance, enables prepaid phone cards to be personalized by a label or hot stamping foil. This market is still full of potential in a number of countries and regions. Up to two KBA-Metronic inkjet printers can print on single ABS, PVC, paper or PET cards - in landscape or portrait format. The hot stamping module covers secret numbers with a scratch-off foil and can process up to 14,000 cards per hour. A variety of options, such as a magnetic stripe encoder for assigning individual data to the magnetic stripe, as well as a labeller are available on request.
KBA-Metronic has already installed printing and personalization systems in a number of Eastern European countries. "The Poznan show proves there is a demand for our special printing presses. With the Genius 52UV, the user is gaining access to new, high-margin applications. We are most optimistic that more customers will take advantage of these opportunities", said KBA-Metronic's Area Sales Director Martina Mejzlikova.
