This year the topic of environmental protection combined with innovative security printing features, such as UV-readable colours and split-colour printing, was high up on KBA-MetroPrint's list. The benefits of the Genius 52UV were explained to visitors on materials like polycarbonate and PVC, as well as personalisation solutions on ABS, PVC and synthetic material on a Univerys II.
Interested trade fair visitors thus had the opportunity to discuss the advantages of the newly developed modular personalisation system Universys II with sales specialists from KBA-MetroPrint. With its generous size range up to 220 x 300 mm, the system provides the option to personalise cards much bigger than the ISO card format, whilst having an optimum material thickness variance from 0.1 - 2.4 mm. At this year's Cartes, which took place from 15 - 17 November 2011, the printing of gift cards and the application of scratch-off fields using a multiple labelling machine were exhibited. The unit equipped with a D.O.D. system has a modular construction and can be superbly adapted to customer requirements. The Universys II can process up to 42,000 cards an hour and at the same time offers maximum substrate flexibility, whether it be on materials such as PVC, ABS, PET, paper, cardboard packaging, blister packs or composite materials.
The fact that the Genius 52UV is also rightly appreciated beyond the card sector was impressively proved once again with a contract concluded with the company "WM trykk AS" from Norway. The customer signed an agreement in Paris for a Genius 52 UV with a coater, corona unit and extended delivery belt. WM trykk is a well-known manufacturer of advertising printing in Oslo, which will further enhance its flexibility and productivity by using the waterless Genius 52 UV from Veitshöchheim.
It is generally accepted that a trip to Paris is always worthwhile, but due to the high share of visitors from the growth regions of the Arabic and Indian economic area, the industry's no. 1 trade fair was given an added attraction.
