New SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH digital center filter

Schneider-Kreuznach has expanded its range of center filters to include a new digital version. Vignetting caused by wide-angle lenses is corrected by means of software.

(PresseBox) (Bad Kreuznach, )
In cooperation with Nurizon Software, Schneider-Kreuznach has developed a digital center filter as a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop®. This digital filter corrects the natural reduction in brightness at the edge of an image (referred to as vignetting) that occurs when using wide-angle lenses. Unlike conventional filters, the digital version can be used for processing images after they have been taken, thus avoiding light loss or distracting vignetting and reflections. What is so special about this new development is that the software allows brightness correction to be adjusted continuously and uses a completely new procedure to protect the light (Acolens Adaptive Light Protection). The plug-in software with exact lens-specific data is included with all Schneider-Kreuznach wide-angle lenses. By combining high-precision optics with exact parameters for the software, Schneider-Kreuznach guarantees optimum correction of light loss in wide-angle images.

The digital center filter has clear advantages: As shading at the edge of the image is corrected after the image has been taken, the full brightness of the lens is retained while taking the photograph. Furthermore, there is no risk of light reflections, ghost images, or vignetting occurring if the light conditions or photographic location are not ideal, as is the case with analogue center filters.
