The history of the camera manufacturer VEB Pentacon, a nationally-owned company in Dresden during the German Democratic Republic, has now been published for the first time in full as a book. Dr. Gerhard Jehmlich, Head of Development from 1964 to 1990, tells the story of the well-established Dresden manufacturer in-depth over 280 pages. He not only covers the technical aspects of the company’s history, but also goes into the social and economic context. “We are delighted to have this detailed account of a company that made such a significant contribution to the history of photography,” says Michael Bledau, CEO of Pentacon GmbH, the company that succeeded VEB Pentacon, which was dissolved in 1990.
