Joint Forces for Solar premiere in Great Britain

(PresseBox) (Bonn/ Birmingham, )
On October 27th 2011 the “UK PV Briefing & Networking Forum“ will take place during the Solar Power UK in Birmingham. At this event of the Joint Forces for Solar initiative, developments and possibilities of optimization in the British photovoltaic market will be discussed from a local and global perspective.

This year, Solar Power UK in Birmingham sets the stage for the first Joint Forces for Solar event in Great Britain. As part of the conference, experts from the solar industry will come together on October 27th 2011 from 9:30 am onwards. On the basis of the latest market intelligence and a subsequent panel discussion with representatives from industry, research, associations and media, the current developments on the British photovoltaic market will be discussed. The main focus of the event will be networking and knowledge exchange between the stakeholders from the different stages of the photovoltaic value chain.

Disillusion on the British photovoltaic market this year
Since spring 2010, the British photovoltaic market is considered as one of the hopes within the industry. On April 1st, 2010 the British government established a feed-in-tariff scheme for solar electricity generated by renewable energy sources. Photovoltaic plants got one of the most attractive schemes with regard to fees and duration of all energy sources. But on August 1st, 2011 the U-turn came, along with disillusion for many investors, as the government passed new regulations for large-scale solar plants. After more large scale solar plants were installed than expected, feed-in-tariffs were cut tremendously to reduce costs. However, the tariffs for small solar plants of less than 50 KW remained unchanged, and are likely to be focused on heavily in the course of future development.

124 MW of PV will have been installed altogether in Great Britain by the second quarter 2011. The leading service provider in the analysis and appraisal of solar markets and CleanTech applications, EuPD Research, expects moderate growth between now and 2016. According to EuPD Research, a total of around 500 MW will be installed by then in a pessimistic future scenario. In a more optimistic prognosis, market experts predict 2,000 MW in the same time period.

Future of the British photovoltaic market
The future of the British photovoltaic market will be addressed at the event “UK PV Briefing & Networking Forum” of the Joint Forces for Solar initiative, initiated by EuPD Research and Intersolar, in Birmingham, Great Britain. With the approach “local meets global” stakeholders from all along the photovoltaic value chain will come together at Solar Power UK on October 27th 2011. Here, market developments will be discussed with a local as well as global perspective. The basis builds a panel discussion with representatives from the industry, research, associations and the media, as well as a subsequent open exchange of ideas with the audience.

Particular thanks are expressed by the organizers to event sponsors: Latitude Solar, Siemens plc., Upsolar UK, GS Solar and to media partners PV-Tech.org and pv magazine as well as to conference partner Solar Power UK.

After a successful premiere of the initiative in Europe at Intersolar Europe 2011 in Munich, this is the first event that will be held in Great Britain. If you would like to take part or need more information, please contact Mr. Daniel Fuchs (fuchs@jointforces4solar.com | +49 228 42966 45).
