The aim of the collaboration is to achieve a quick entry into the strong growth market of LED lighting in public spaces and in their commercial use as well as the development of new areas of application such as for example tunnel lighting or lighting for production halls. The aim of the two companies is to become joint leaders in these segments in terms of costs and technology.
Lumenova GmbH develops and supplies high-tech LED systems for use in general lighting as well as for special applications. Jenoptik is one of the leading manufacturers of optical, optomechanical and optoelectronic systems and components and has accumulated extensive know-how in mass production where very high standards of quality are demanded.
The long-term cooperation agreement was concluded recently and covers the technical collaboration in the further development of LED lighting technology based on the "Lightengine" developed by Lumenova, the development of new reflector optics for a range of applications as well as on the further enhancing of the optical quality.
About the PSI Group
The PSI Group develops, manufactures and supplies innovative lighting systems based on light emitting diodes (LEDs). One area of focus is on street and outdoor lighting. Lumenova, part of the PSI Group, supplies so-called "Lightengines" to the specifications of manufacturers of street lighting as well as to its affiliated company 2K Moxa Lighting.
An LED street light offers significant advantages for clients: it offers savings in electricity in the double figure percentage range, is virtually maintenance free and consequently provides for a marked reduction in operating costs.
The development of the innovative light engines for the purpose of providing lighting for highways, squares, pedestrian routes, cycle routes etc. is protected by patent applications. The LED light source, light distribution optics as well as the electronics are integrated within a system module.
The PSI Group is a young technology company that resulted from a management buy-out from the former Panasonic fluorescent tube plant in Esslingen am Neckar. The extensive know-how acquired in manufacturing technology and electronic systems forms the basis for the development of extremely high-quality innovative products designed to provide long-term benefits to clients.
