With the cooperation Jenoptik is expanding its solution expertise and its resources in the growth market for micro-optics. In addition to the existing core markets - semiconductor industry, healthcare & life sciences as well as laser material processing - additional customers can now be won and new areas of application be developed, e.g. up-to-date lighting and display technology.
The design of micro-optics based on the LightTrans software will be combined with Jenoptik's technology portfolio in the area of micro and nano structuring, precision procesing and system integration as well as Jenoptik's application know-how. What this means for Jenoptik's clients is a broader range of services and for LightTrans a wealth of practical impetuses which will help in the rapid further development of its design software. In addition, Jenoptik will take an active part in marketing the software of LightTrans and, in particular be an exclusive distributor for the LightTrans software in the USA.
Jenoptik is one of the global leaders in the supply of micro-optical components and systems. These optics - made from both glass as well as plastic - provide for multi-format and high-precision light beam shaping and as such consistently open up new potential areas of application. Today, micro-optics are used primarily in the semiconductor industry as well as in metrology, medicine and laser material processing. Jenoptik develops and manufactures micro-optics in a state-of-the-art cleanroom production environment both in Jena and Dresden as well as in the U.S.
About LightTrans
The Light Trans GmbH, Jena, is internationally recognized as the trendsetter in the field of advanced optical systems modeling. VirtualLab (tm) is based on the Unified Modeling Optical concept developed by physicists, mathematicians and computer experts. The software masters a variety of different methods for modeling from geometrical optics to the rigorous analysis of gratings. The VirtualLab (tm) toolboxes offer tailored solutions for a variety of tasks in the development of optical systems such as laser optics, and diffractive micro-optics, high-NA systems, ultra-short pulses, polarization optics, metrology, interferometry as well as LED and excimer modeling.
