Jenoptik will showcase product innovations at Photonics West in San Francisco, USA

Jenoptik's Lasers & Material Processing and Optical Systems divisions will be putting technology chain and systems expertise under the spotlight at the key sector trade fair from January 25 to 27, 2011

(PresseBox) (Jena, )
The Lasers & Materials Processing division will be exhibiting the entire technology chain of laser beam sources - from standard products right up to customer specific designs. In addition to laser bars with new wavelengths, particularly suitable for applications e.g. in the print industry, the division will be showcasing a new diode laser module with integrated qcw stack that was developed for applications in the industrial, military and medical areas. Over and above direct applications, Jenoptik has concentrated on the further development of and improvement in the pumping properties of its laser bars and diode lasers, in particular for pumping fiber lasers; and will also present a more powerful, highly brilliant diode laser module. The new infrared thin-disk laser with higher power for use in photovoltaics and micro material processing, as well as the new product range of optical isolators for high-power lasers, will also be on show. The JenLas® disk IR70 primarily meets the highly specific requirements of new photovoltaic manufacturing technologies in which efficiency is increased by relocating the contacts onto the rear side of the solar cells.

The Optical Systems division will be presenting itself as a full-range provider - from optical components through to the integrated optoelectronic system. It is concentrating its development and manufacturing know-how within the Optics, Micro Optics, Digital Imaging and Optoelectronic Systems business units so it can supply clients with customized solutions. The combination of these areas of expertise makes the division one of the world's leading experts in integrated optical systems. In the area of micro optics for example, new production processes provide for flexible, refractive and diffractive structures for calcium fluoride (CaF2) which are used in high-power laser applications. New LED chips with hundred times luminosity and a marked reduction in energy consumption will also be on display. These are, therefore, in particular suitable for mobile devices. The company will also be exhibiting innovative optical precision components, OEM imaging modules and light modulators.

In the USA the Lasers & Material Processing and Optical Systems divisions are represented at various locations and have development and production capacities for optics, micro optics as well as optical systems. Last year Jenoptik expanded its production facilities in the USA for the manufacture of diamond-turned infrared optics.

At Photonics West Jenoptik can be found in South Hall of the Moscone Center at booth 1323. Jenoptik Chairman Michael Mertin will be presenting the SPIE Prism Award for Photonics Innovation 2011 (international organization for optics and photonics) to the winners in the Test, Measurement and Metrology category on Wednesday, January 26.
