Through its Optronics business unit in the Defense & Civil Systems division Jenoptik has become the supplier of the year to the firm of Astrium, a 100 percent subsidiary of EADS. The awarding is based on long-term outstanding and proven operative excellence in the area of aerospace. Astrium recognizes the delivery reliability and the high quality of Jenoptik's products.
The award was presented to Jenoptik at a ceremony at the international supplier symposium of Astrium held in the French city of Toulouse last week. Jenoptik's GNC sensors are being used on various satellite platforms of Astrium.
"After having received our award as Supplier of the Year 2006 from the Boeing corporation, the largest American satellite manufacturer, we are delighted to receive further recognition for the quality of our products from Astrium, the largest European satellite manufacturer", says Dietmar Ratzsch, head of the Optronics business unit. "Receiving the award as "Master Supplier 2007" motivates all of our employees and is an incentive to continue improving own solutions for our customers."
The Jena-based optoelectronics Group is the global market leader for GNC sensors for international satellite programs and was able to further expand its position this year. A long-term supply contract, for example, was signed with the Japanese Mitsubishi Electric Corporation in October 2008.
