The Industrial Metrology division, in particular, is expanding the business in Asia.
From a mobile, wireless roughness measuring system to an automatic high-end measuring station, the Industrial Metrology division is showcasing its range at the leading European trade fair "Control" in Stuttgart from May 8. Automation and flexible, ultra-precise metrology in production will be the key attractions. Products on display for the first time include new optical shaft measuring systems, the new device generation for form measurement and new measuring electronics for dimensional measurement plus associated software.
With its Industrial Metrology division, Jenoptik is one of the world's leading suppliers and partners of the global automotive and automotive supplier industries. The measuring systems provide assistance in the development as well as efficient and error-free production in the area of engines and transmission, injection parts and numerous other automobile components. Jenoptik maintains facilities at the locations of the global automotive industry, in the US and Mexico, in China, Korea and India, and in France, Spain, Switzerland and parts of Eastern Europe.
JENOPTIK South East Asia based in Singapore established.
Since May, Jenoptik has had an office in Singapore, from where it will target the South-East Asian market to a greater extent than previously. In a first step, the Industrial Metrology division is due to expand its business for the automotive and supplier industries in this growth market. The South-East Asian countries (Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia) are among those emerging markets with both strong economic growth and still a low density of vehicles for which a sharp rise is forecast for the coming years. Today already, South-East Asia occupies seventh position in global automobile production, ahead of the UK, Russia and France.
"We will continue to rigorously pursue our course of internationalization on the principle of being on the ground close to our customers. In the Industrial Metrology division, we are thus one of only a few suppliers around the world able to carry out global and large-scale projects with speed and flexibility. This is a key factor of success in this business," says Jenoptik Chairman of the Executive Board Dr. Michael Mertin. And he adds, it is not only for the Industrial Metrology division, however, that South-East Asia is a growth market. "Opportunities are also arising for our other divisions in the Group, for example our product range in Lasers & Material Processing," says Mertin.
In 2011, Jenoptik posted a marked growth in sales and earnings in Industrial Metrology. This trend was brought about by both strong demand from the global automotive industry as well as internal process improvements, continuous international expansion and the attractive product portfolio which covers all measuring technologies. This positive development continued into the first quarter of 2012.
Jenoptik will present the results of the overall Group for the first quarter of 2012 on Thursday this week (May 10).
Products and innovations are on display at the Control trade fair at the Jenoptik booth 3501 in Hall 3.
