Jenoptik introduces traffic surveillance system TraffiSection® in three countries

(PresseBox) (Monheim/Jena, )
Stationary and mobile systems to monitor and measure average speeds are being installed on roads in Switzerland, Austria and a Middle Eastern country. The three orders are worth around 4 million euros in total.

TrafficSection® monitors the average speeds of traffic over a defined section of road and complements the comprehensive product range of Jenoptik Robot GmbH (Traffic Solutions division). In early 2010, the Group succeeded in bringing the innovative system, which can be freely composed of mobile and stationary units, into operation in Switzerland, Austria and a Middle Eastern country, and as a result, firmly establishing it on the global market.

The order is worth a total of around 4 million euros. The projects are to be completed by late 2010 / early 2011. Jenoptik has already been represented in all three countries with traffic monitoring systems for many years.

Jenoptik's TraffiSection® uses its own digital camera systems to monitor road users' speed over a stretch of road between the entry and exit crosssections. According to customer needs, TraffiSection® is planned separately for each project and can be expanded with optional modules. The data records collected are automatically transmitted to the relevant authorities for further processing of traffic violations via a secure and encrypted data connection.
