The total equipment order exceeding 20 million euros will be delivered and installed through this year and next. As a result, the major order will in part contribute to sales and earnings already in 2011.
Jenoptik is supplying equipment for the Saudi Arabian ATVAM project (Automated Traffic Violations Administering and Monitoring). ATVAM is considered to be the largest and technically most ambitious single project ever in the history of traffic law enforcement worldwide. Over the next years the project aims at substantially reducing the number of killed or injured people on Saudi Arabia's roads.
During the competitive tender for this major project, the Jenoptik division benefited from its leading market position and won out over numerous competitors. A key component of the systems ordered are the 3D Tracking Radar Sensors which have been recently developed by Jenoptik. These non-invasive sensors can simultaneously monitor several lanes for speed and red light violations.
With the new order placed now Jenoptik's Traffic Solutions division continues its successful acquisition of important major projects. In March 2010, Jenoptik had reported a major order outside Europe worth over 12 million euros for traffic law enforcement systems and equipment.
