German Design Award for Jenoptik product
A product from the Jenoptik Traffic Solutions division has one again received a renowned design award. The new TraffiTop housing is intended for use in mobile traffic monitoring. The German Design Council's jury was impressed by its ergonomics, functionality, quality and the level of innovation. On October 27, the Council announced that the TraffiTop receives the "German Design Award - Special Mention" in the product category "Transportation and Public Design".
The new TraffiTop design housing combines functional requirements and aesthetic factors in a new form of mobile traffic monitoring. The product design meets the specific ergonomic and technical requirements for a mobile speed measurement system and optimizes safe handling during setup and removal as well as flawless measuring operation.
TraffiTop was designed by Ratingen designer Ralf Jakubowski in cooperation with ART-KON-TOR "Design & Konstruktion" in Jena, Germany. The Jenoptik TraffiTower 2.0 stationary housing, also developed together with Jakubowski, had already received the international "iF product design award" at the start of the year. Its predecessor model TraffiTower received the international Red Dot Award for design and functionality in 2006.
The "Special Mention" award acknowledges companies' and designers' work whose design represents a particularly successful solution, among them are new models of renowned motorcycle and car manufacturers. The award presentation will take place on February 13, 2015 in Frankfurt/Main.
TraffiTop: a special, functional design for traffic monitoring.
TraffiTop makes mobile speed monitoring more efficient and helps police and communities utilize the centerpiece of the monitoring technology, namely the sensors and cameras, more flexibly. It combines a laser scanner or radar sensor with the state-of-the-art SmartCamera IV in a Jenoptik MiniRack, which can easily be used in a range of applications: stationary in the TraffiTower, also awarded for its design, installed in a vehicle or in mobile applications. This is made possible by the user-friendly TraffiTop housing, which can be mounted on both a tripod as well as a container.
