The well-known global service provider opened the doors to their new 1,400 m² laboratory and office space with an inaugural open day of presentations and tours of the newly established sensory testing section. Dr. Kurt-Peter Raezke, Managing Director of Intertek Food Services GmbH, announced the central topic of the opening day "Food Safety - Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow!" remarking "The expansion is part of our longer term strategy to offer customers an integrated quality solution with a focus on product and hygienic controls, as well as sensory testing."
More than 120 European and global Food leaders attended, including top-ranking industry speakers to provide presentations covering subjects of food safety throughout the entire value chain - from production of raw materials, their processing through to trading and legal aspects. The prestigious panel included among others, John Carter (Metro Group), Jens Führer (Mondelez International), Petra Schmanke (Nestlé Germany AG), Dr. Bärbel Schröder (State of Bremen), Prof. Dr. Moritz Hagenmeyer (KROHN lawyers, Hamburg) followed by a lively panel discussion.
Commenting on the future of food Dr Raezke stated "As food and animal feed safety remains a key issue for EU governments as well as consumers, areas of microbiology, DNA analysis, feed testing, residue testing and authenticity checks are an essential part of food producer investments," continuing "By offering a broad spectrum of test methods for food and feed suppliers, this enables Intertek to be the right partner in terms of food safety for local, regional and global companies. The expansion of our portfolio in analysis - in conjunction with our testing and certification services - strengthens our approach, allowing us to offer consistent services from producer to consumer."
In addition to the well-equipped new premises, Intertek has invested in state-of-the-art laboratory technology, to the total of 3,000 sqm. The company supports the high market demand for faster and more reliable food and feed analysis, with more than 110 employees in Bremen, and an additional food testing lab located in Linden (Hessen), supported by a site in Stuttgart which focuses on certification and auditing. Together these will allow Intertek Food Services to continue to be a reliable partner in all aspects of food safety to regional and global trade and industry.
