The goal of the program is to drive the success of Samsung’s customers by providing certification accreditations support. The agreement between Samsung and Intertek, first signed at Intertek’s Seoul, Korea laboratory in January, will provide enhanced services to lighting luminaire and lamp manufacturers using Samsung LED components. The program offers Intertek’s testing and certification services to manufacturers who require third-party validation of quality, safety, and energy efficiency at a 20-30 percent improvement in costs and total testing time.
“Intertek is proud to be Samsung’s strategic partner for U.S. testing and certification,” said Gregg Tiemann, Intertek’s Chief Executive for Products & Chief Operating Officer for North America & North East Asia. “Our continued investment in state-of-the-art lighting laboratories, strong technical expertise, and unmatched breadth of services are all aligned to deliver the highest quality and most efficient service to Samsung customers launching new products.”
Intertek’s depth of services and expertise in global lighting regulations and technologies provides guidance to developers and manufacturers across the consumer and residential, commercial and industrial, transportation, and infrastructure markets. Lighting products can receive Intertek’s ETL Mark, which proves compliance to all requisite North American safety standards, as well as equivalent marks for global markets.
“The agreement with Intertek enables us to offer a more convenient certification process for our customers in the Americas,” said Sung-kwan Lim, Vice President, Quality Team, Samsung Electronics LED Business. “We will enhance the competitiveness of our LED components based on this high customer satisfaction.”
Intertek representatives will be available at LIGHTFAIR to explain the benefits of the Certification Support Program to lighting manufacturers.
