Last minute tickets for the 2nd European Conference on ICT for Transport Logistics 2009 in Venice

The 2nd European Conference on ICT for Transport Logistics (ECITL'09) will take place on October, 29 - 30 on the Island of San Servolo, Venice. Last minute tickets are still available.

The international event is organised by several independent EU funded projects dealing with different fields of transport logistics. It is focused on topics addressing current and in future available solutions regarding increased efficiency and sustainability. The target audience includes everyone who is involved in logistics operations, e.g. logistics operators, industry, infrastructure providers and authorities.

The conference will take a look into different subjects mostly dealing with the lack of available information in transport logistics and will explain how ICT can support operations and overcome information gaps between stakeholders. Topics of the conference include currently met and future challenges that need to be addressed, and cover business and technical issues in parallel tracks, e.g.

strategic supply chain and tactical logistics operation enhancement through interoperable ICT implementations and possible impacts on business models, software and hardware technologies for implementation of interoperable information systems and available standards as well as security.

The event is organized in interactive sessions for possible participation of and discussions with the audience to also gather feedback and sharpen the view on changing challenges and requirements.

ISL - coordinator of the EU funded project "INTEGRITY - Intermodal Global Door-to-Door Container Supply Chain Visibility" will organise a parallel session on security on the Venice conference. Further involved projects are EURIDICE, FREIGHTWISE, SmartCM and Smartfreight.

- Expert on Supply Chain Management

Representative from the European Commission, EU
- Underlining the importance of ICT in Transport Logistics for the EC

Peter Sonnabend, Senior Project Manager, Deutsche Post (DPDHL), Germany
- Expressing the importance of topics covered by the conference from the users' viewpoint.

The keynotes will be followed by speakers from the research and industry community involved in the area of transport logistics, addressing different topics relevant for today's industry regarding transport logistics and supply chain management.
