There is a small sized company which is rising with FIBC(Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container). That is MCP located in Ulsan, South Korea.
The CEO of MCP, Oh Sumin starts as small office shop owner near a petrochemical complex in Ulsan city. As she found out that there had been lots of problems with chinese low-quality FIBC for factories in the complex.
Therefore she started the FIBC business. In 2004 she set up a FIBC factory and in 2005 with integrated systems of all processes that is, spinning, weaving, laminating and sewing in one factory. This system allows the company overall quality control from yarn to final goods.
She also says, “FIBC is easy to build but need to be delicate because sometimes it carries fragile things like PTA. So it is more like woman business.”
In the result, she has been very successful so far. Currently MCP does business with Korean conglomerates such as SK, Huvis, Hyosung, NH. Also, MCPs continuing success leads to diversification of its product range to Polypropylene fabrics and laminated fabrics for variety of uses.
Recently, Ms. Oh was chosen to be part of an economic delegation of Korea and accompanied Korean president Park’s tour through Europe and Central Asia.
