Until that time, Schulz will continue in his role as senior vice president Central and Eastern Europe / Head of Ingram Micro DACHH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Hungary). His successor is expected to be announced in the following weeks.
In his new position, Schulz will report to Alain Monié, president and CEO Ingram Micro Inc., as a member of the corporation's worldwide executive leadership team.
"Gerhard is a proven leader and an excellent choice for this important position," stated Monié. "In the past 13 years, he has managed to expand our business in Central and Eastern Europe, contributing significantly to the company's result - especially in Germany, which is the largest country in the region for Ingram Micro. Gerhard has been the driving force behind the development of the pan-European business and the rapid expansion of value activities in the DACHH region, which have been achieved mainly by organic growth. Under Gerhard's leadership, we look forward to growing our European operations by further diversifying our business model and strengthening our solutions business."
Monié continued: "We are fortunate to have Alain Maquet ready to take on increased responsibilities. For the past four years Maquet has successfully driven strong growth in higher margin businesses and markets, including enterprise computing/data center, Ingram Micro Logistics and data capture/point-of-sale, while also promoting best practices to support profitable growth across the region. I look forward to continuing to work closely with him to deliver on our near- and longer-term global growth, profitability and total shareholder returns commitments."
Schulz joined Ingram Micro in 2000 to head the sales department. A year later, he was promoted to executive managing director, assuming the overall responsibility of the German distribution business of Ingram Micro, where he succeeded in establishing Ingram Micro as the market leader in Germany. Subsequently, he managed Ingram Micro's businesses in Austria, Switzerland and Hungary, where he focused on increasing productivity and implementing more efficient processes.
Maquet joined Ingram Micro as managing director of France in 1993, and has served in multiple senior leadership roles in Europe and Latin America during his 20-year tenure. He has been a member of the worldwide executive leadership team since March 2005, when he was promoted to senior vice president and president Latin America. In July 2009, Maquet was promoted to senior executive vice president and president, Ingram Micro EMEA. In his new role, Maquet will be based in Miami and be responsible for global productivity improvement. He will continue to report to Monié as a member of Ingram Micro's worldwide executive leadership team.
