International use of retinal vessel analysis in scientific laboratories

Imedos Systems cooperates with Chinese distributor Aifei Electronic Technology Co., Ltd

(PresseBox) (Jena/Shanghai, )
Jena-based medical technology manufacturer Imedos Systems GmbH has entered a new partnership appointing the Chinese company Aifei Electronic Technology Co., Ltd as new distributor for their RCrodent systems for the scientific laboratory. For the first time, the technology enables contactless retinal imaging and vessel analysis in particularly small eyes, such as rodents and small animals paving the way for new research projects.

Shanghai-based Aifei Electronic Technology Co., Ltd offers selected cutting-edge technologies for academic institutions and the biotechnological research market in China. "Imedos' systems impress with their significant ethical and financial benefits. The examination is carried out in a contactless and non-invasive manner and thus is particularly gentle on animals resulting in a lower number of animals needed for any study. The cooperation enables us to pass on this added value to our customers and to offer innovative processes of retinal vessel analysis," says Steven Zhu, Managing Director of Aifei Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.

The RCrodent systems can be used to analyse the eyes of rabbits, rats and mice in vivo and non-invasively. The system consists of a powerful fundus camera as well as an innovative analysis software for evaluation. Depending on the configuration of the system, static and/or dynamic vessel analyses can be performed. Details of the retina are documented in high quality enabling a quick and precise determination of all relevant vessel parameters. In addition, the systems can be extended with optional modules, e.g. fluorescence angiography, for further analyses of the ocular fundus. Consequently, they offer a versatile solution with a wide range of applications setting new impulses for scientific questions of translational research.

Dr. Walthard Vilser, Managing Director of Imedos Systems GmbH, welcomes the expansion of the distributor network: "In Aifei Electronic Technology, we have found a strong partner in the field of clinical research. We look forward to working together and the opportunity to continue our international growth as well as achieve our corporate goals."
