KVM extenders for computer signal extension consist of two modules: CPU Units at the source end connect to computers whilst CON Units provide signals to peripheral devices, including monitor, keyboard and mouse. Cat X and fiber cables provide interconnection between the CPU and CON Units.
For some time now, IHSE has offered Draco vario DVI-I extenders, providing conversion of analog VGA signals to digital DVI allowing a computer with VGA output to operate with DVI displays. In contrast to these devices with separate converter card, the new low cost and very compact single-board CPU Unit populates only one slot in a multi-card enclosure providing flexibility and minimal space requirement.
Setup and control has also been improved: the new DVI-I extender's OSD (On-Screen Display) can be operated using the remote keyboard replacing the former remote control. Users of previous versions of the Draco vario DVI-I extender with dual-board CPU Unit can also enjoy the benefits of operating the OSD via keyboard by applying a free firmware update.
To satisfy diverse uses and fields of application, the Draco vario DVI-I extender is optionally available with redundant interconnection to ensure uninterrupted operation in the case of link failure.
The full range of IHSE extenders including the new Draco vario DVI-I extender will be available for demonstration at IBC in Amsterdam, 13-17 September 2013.
