IHSE and Fraunhofer to present innovative lightweight coding technology (LICI)

(PresseBox) (Oberteuringen, )
IHSE and Fraunhofer-Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, will present an overview of the new lightweight coding technology LICI on Friday 11th September (3:00pm) in the Technology in Action Theatre (3.A19).

This innovative codec, developed by Fraunhofer, adapts image data streams to the available communication infrastructure and bandwidth without high image resolution or dynamic range enhancements falling by the wayside.

The LICI codec allows image-by-image, lossless transmission of high-resolution images. It also features extremely low latency, high throughput and the ability to perform bit-rate adjustment to the available bandwidth at very low latency. LICI is the ideal coding technology for image processing and transmission systems used in professional production and multimedia applications. For broadcasters, who rely on artefact-free, low-latency images, LICI delivers the best possible solution today.

IHSE have worked in partnership with Fraunhofer to develop the first ever implementation in KVM technology. The Fraunhofer LICI codec is embedded in IHSE's next generation KVM extender technology supporting DisplayPort signals up to 4K resolution and beyond.

"Professional KVM technology for multiple monitor management is driven by the demands of visually lossless image data transfer over existing infrastructure cabling or limited bandwidth without latency," said Enno Littmann, managing director of IHSE GmbH. "We chose Fraunhofer IIS as our development partner for image coding to give us the ability to offer new products that meet these market requirements."
