IHSE Matrix Grid revolutionizes KVM cascading

(PresseBox) (Oberteuringen, )
Newly designed Matrix Grid architecture allows dynamic coupling of KVM matrix switches creating a virtual super-matrix. The new technology replaces traditional cascading concepts.

IHSE GmbH is a worldwide leading manufacturer of advanced KVM products for the switching and extension of computer signals. Matrix switches enable switching between various sources and remote consoles.

For large applications several matrices can be interconnected to increase the number of available ports beyond one single KVM matrix switch. This is achieved by the use of the Matrix Grid. The ground-breaking firmware allows all Draco tera matrices within a local network to be coupled bi-directionally and dynamically, creating a virtual super-matrix. Thus, operators can access all connected computers within the Matrix Grid from any connected console in real-time.

The Matrix Grid technology offers significant advantages over traditional unidirectional and hierarchic cascading options that have so far been used to connect multiple matrices. This traditional tree structure, limited to top-down connections, is replaced by a flat network structure allowing the highest level of switching flexibility and free choice of access from any position.

Individual users experience a single matrix switch and are unaware of the substructure of the virtual super-matrix. Matrices can be separated over large distances or even located in different buildings. Since each matrix can still host consoles and computers, the dynamic architecture of Matrix Grid makes it possible to access all sources from each workstation, even if they are separated kilometers away from each other.

The full range of IHSE KVM products, including the new Matrix Grid technology, will be available for demonstration at IBC in Amsterdam, 13-17 September 2013.
