Global innovation: IHSE succeeds in switching USB 3.0

(PresseBox) (Oberteuringen, )
IHSE GmbH, a worldwide leading developer and manufacturer of advanced KVM products for the switching and extension of computer signals, introduces USB 3.0 I/O boards for its Draco tera matrix switches, making it possible to extend and switch USB 3.0 signals for the first time.

This innovation, developed using ExtremeUSB® technology from Icron Technologies Corporation, the first producer of USB 3.0 extenders, adds the support of Icron's USB 3.0 extenders to IHSE's Draco tera systems, thus enabling the switching of USB 3.0 super-speed signals at data rates up to 5 GBit/s - 10 times faster than USB 2.0. The faster transmission of data allows a more efficient workflow e.g. for archiving tasks.

The new USB 3.0 I/O boards allow configurations of up to 160 ports with USB 3.0 transmission capability. All USB 3.0 ports can be dynamically configured as input or output. Of course, USB 3.0 I/O boards can also be operated together with standard KVM or SDI boards in one matrix. Thus, USB 3.0 signals can be switched together with the respective KVM and SDI signals of a given CPU or user station.

"IHSE ranks among the elite global matrix switch solution providers, and so it is no surprise to see them continue to innovate with video plus USB 3.0," said Glenn Antonelli, Icron's Vice President of Marketing. "This is more than just future proofing, USB 3.0 offers the increased bandwidth that broadcast applications now require, and what better stage to demonstrate this than IBC where 50,000 attendees can view it firsthand."

"We are delighted to work with Icron on the development of USB 3.0 switching into our Draco tera matrix switches," stated Dr. Enno Littmann, Managing Director at IHSE. "This offering greatly enhances our position at the forefront of KVM switching with the ability to support video plus USB 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 - whatever industry applications demand."

IHSE will present the world premiere of the USB 3.0 switching capability at IBC in Amsterdam, September 13-17, 2013.
