IDC Promotes Phil Carter to Chief Analyst, IDC Europe

(PresseBox) (London, )
International Data Corporation (IDC) is pleased to announce the promotion of Phil Carter to chief analyst for the European region. The new role has been created specifically to drive innovation in new research topics and deliverables, to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing, and to increase customer satisfaction. In addition to his new role, Carter will continue to manage the European Enterprise Software and Infrastructure research teams.

"Over the past few years IDC's European Research organization has been on a transformation journey, undertaking a number of steps to further increase relevance to our customers and better respond to market changes at a faster pace," said Thomas Meyer, group vice president, European Research. "As part of that journey, we continue to focus on our analyst community, driving engagement with both the market and the analyst community through social channels, for example, underlining IDC's position as the leading industry analyst organization. As chief analyst, Phil will play a key role in the ongoing transformation."

Specifically, Carter will identify new topics and themes and drive thought leadership, working with the broader team to continuously inject innovation into IDC's regional deliverables, events, and CXO Summits.

"We are entering a really interesting phase of the ICT era. We call it the 'Innovation Phase' and we believe that it will deliver an explosion of new value creation on top of the 3 rd Platform 's foundation," said Carter. "The vendor ecosystem and many large European enterprises such as BBVA, Barclays, Tesco, and Airbus are investing in and building out 'innovation and co-innovation labs' to incubate and experiment with these technologies to capture these emerging digital opportunities. We think we need to create European-specific research themes and content that our clients can use to accelerate their digital transformation initiatives to capitalize on this innovation phase of the ICT era."
