In einem EtherCAT-Netzwerk sind große Distanzen und starke elektromagnetische Felder eine große Herausforderung. Die Lichtwellenleitertechnik (LWL) bietet aufgrund ihrer Leistungsfähigkeit und Übertragungssicherheit eine ideale Alternative zur herkömmlichen EtherCAT-Verkabelung. Die neuen Medienkonverter der ECAT-2511 Serie von ICPDAS setzen die EtherCAT-Daten zuverlässig von 100Base-TX auf 100BASE-FX (LWL) um. Im Single-Mode lassen sich Distanzen von bis zu 25 km überbrücken. Um das Troubleshooting zu erleichtern, werden Fehlermeldungen und der Betriebszustand direkt über LEDs am Gerät angezeigt. Die kompakte Bauform und die Hutschienen-Montage erleichtern die Integration in bestehende EtherCAT-Netzwerke.
