Eine neue Applikationsnote zur Bestimmung von Eisen (Fe) und Phosphor (P) in Kupfer ist von HORIBA Jobin Yvon erhältlich. Sie beschreibt die direkte Bestimmung von 1 ppm Fe bzw. P (dies entspricht bei einer Einwaage von 20 g/L Probe 20 µg/L an Fe bzw. P) mit dem ICP-OES Spektrometer Ultima 2. Die direkte Bestimmung mit dem Ultima 2 hat den Vorteil, dass zeitaufwendige Bestimmungen mittels Photometrie oder mittels ICP-OES nach Lanthanfällung ebenso vermieden werden wie kostenintensive Bestimmungen mittels ICP-MS oder GD-MS. Dies wird ermöglicht dank des ausgezeichneten Auflösungsvermögens des ICP-OES Spektrometers und der damit verbundenen hohen Nachweisstärke. Die Auflösung für die verwendeten Emissionslinien für P bei 178.229 nm und Fe bei 238.204 nm liegt bei 5 pm. Die radiale Anordnung des Plasmas minimiert matrixabhängige Interferenzen auf ein Minimum und trägt zu einer exzellenten Stabilität des Spektrometers bei. Selbstverständlich können neben Fe und P auch andere Elemente inklusive der Halogene Chlor, Brom und Jod mit dem ICP-OES Spektrometer Ultima 2 von Horiba Jobin Yvon bestimmt werden.
