Supercomputer SGI Altix 450 bei HOB in Cadolzburg realisiert 800 Windows-Rechner in einem

Während immer mehr Unternehmen in der wirtschaftlich angespannten Lage Kosten einsparen, setzt die HOB GmbH & Co. KG auf Innovation und Entwicklung: Mit dem Kauf des Supercomputer SGI Altix 450 investiert das in Cadolzburg ansässige mittelständische Softwareunternehmen kräftig in eine erfolgreiche Zukunft.

Um das ehrgeizige Ziel zu realisieren, auf der Hightech Maschine parallel 800 Windows 7-Betriebssysteme mit HOBVM und VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) laufen zu lassen, wird der SGI Altix 450 nach und nach auf 38 Intel Itanium CPUs mit 76 Cores und 854 Gigabytes Hauptspeicher ausgebaut.

Eingesetzt wird der neue Supercomputer für Performance- und Last-Tests von HOB Server-Software wie VDI und Remote Access für viele gleichzeitige User. Mit Unterstützung der VDI-Technologie werden Client-Windows-Systeme wie Windows 7/ Vista im Rechenzentrum virtualisiert. Der Zugriff erfolgt über RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol).

Der Supercomputer SGI Altix 450 ist eine sinnvolle Erweiterung des bestehenden Netzwerkes in der HOB Zentrale, das aktuell ca. 80 Server aller führenden Hersteller mit den unterschiedlichsten Architekturen und Betriebssystemen umfasst.
