Der Benchmark wurde auf einem HP Integrity Superdome mit 64 Intel Itanium 2 Dual-Core-Prozessoren durchgefuehrt. Bei der Testkonfiguration lief Oracle 11g unter dem Betriebssystem HP-UX 11i v3. Im Ergebnis macht der Server das Rennen mit 208.457,7 Anfragen pro Stunde (QphH) bei einem Preis-Leistungs-Verhaeltnis von 27,97 US-Dollar pro QphH.
Der TPC-HBenchmark testet die Faehigkeiten von Datenbanksystemen beim Verarbeiten komplexer Anfragen wie sie typischerweise bei der Entscheidungsunterstuetzung (Decision Support) auftreten. Auf dem Pruefstand stehen typische Ad-hoc-Anfragen, wie sie in einer Vielzahl von Branchen vorkommen, waehrend gleichzeitig Daten modifiziert werden. Dabei muessen die Systeme sehr grosse Datenmengen und komplexe Anfragen bewaeltigen.
