Mit dem Firmenkauf erweitert HP seine derzeitige Produktpalette von Großformatdruckern und Digitaldruckmaschinen und stärkt seine Position als One-Stop-Partner für Druckdienstleister. Mit Scitex Vision steht HP jetzt ein weiterer Marktführer für Großformatdrucker zur Seite, dessen Geräte in der Beschilderungsindustrie und für industrielle Anwendungen zum Einsatz kommen. Dazu gehören unter anderem Verpackungen, Transparente und großformatige Werbebanner. Letztere gehören im schnell wachsenden Markt der digitalen Drucktechnik zu den stärksten Wachstumsbereichen, rund 17 Prozent aller Drucke werden hier digital erzeugt und HP erwartet eine Verdoppelung dieser Anzahl innerhalb der nächsten fünf Jahre. Als führender Anbieter auf diesem Gebiet verfügt Scitex Vision über eine beachtliche Kundenbasis, herausragende Produkte und Technologien sowie einen hervorragenden Kundenservice.
Das Unternehmen mit Hauptsitz in Netanya, Israel, erreichte im vergangenen Geschäftsjahr einen Umsatz von142 Millionen US-Dollar. Weitere Niederlassungen befinden sich in den USA, Belgien, China, Mexiko und Südafrika. Darüber hinaus ist Scitex Vision mit Vertretungen in weiteren 75 Ländern präsent. Durch die Übernahme kommt HP in den Vorzug der proprietären Druckkopf-Technologie von Scitex Vision und sichert sich damit einen bedeutenden Wettbewerbsvorsprung. Andere potenzielle Synergiebereiche zwischen HP und Scitex Vision stellen die Inkjet-Technologie, Service und Support, direkte und indirekte Vertriebskanäle sowie die Zulieferungskette dar.
Die Übernahme ist an bestimmte Auflagen gebunden und wird innerhalb der nächsten 90 Tage vollständig abgeschlossen sein. Danach werden die von Scitex Vision übernommenen Geschäftsbereiche in den HP Geschäftsbereich Imaging and Printing eingegliedert.
