Smart Lighting System LEDs’inno

Smart trailer lighting system in the Elparts product range

(PresseBox) (Heusenstamm, )
For decades now, Herth+Buss has been offering high-quality vehicle parts to independent workshops. These are accompanied by premium service and practical repair solutions. LEDs’inno – the most recent addition to the range – is no exception. True to its reputation as a parts expert, Herth+Buss has been offering an innovative lighting system for a while now that is also of interest to vehicle manufacturers. It initially comprises around 70 products, although this number is increasing.

What is LEDs’inno?

LEDs’inno is a smart LED trailer lighting system with a wide spectrum of potential applications. Whether trailers for cars, HGVs, agricultural or construction machinery, not to mention a variety of special-purpose vehicles: the smart lighting system can be used in any of these for practically any purpose. Combination lights were subsequently optimised for four different areas of application, with these areas being divided between LEDs’inno 1-4.
  • LEDs’inno 1 lights are suitable for vehicles/trailers in class O1. The trailers concerned are up to 0.75 t in weight, e.g. home and garden trailers in addition to motorcycle and jet ski trailers. Exclusively 12 V voltage.
  • LEDs’inno 2 lights correspond to vehicles/trailers in class O2 with a total weight of between 0.75 t and 3.5 t. These may be classic boat and car trailers or horse boxes/machinery transporters. For these, the voltage compatibility ranges from 10 to 30 V and helps ensure operational safety in the event of voltage fluctuations.
  • LEDs’inno 3 lights cover vehicle/trailer classes O3/O4 with a total weight of over 3.5 t. These are usually HGV trailers, special transporters or agricultural machines. The voltage bandwidth is between 10 and 30 V in this case as well.
  • All O-classes are combined in the LEDs’inno 4 light package, meaning that workshops which frequently work with these areas can always provide the right lighting equipment for trailers ranging from small garden trailers through to gigantic harvesters.
An additional bonus is that the smart lighting system can be custom-configured. One example from the class O2 range – the rotating beacon and the side marker lights for agricultural trailers which are also contained in the comprehensive range of accessories.

What makes the lighting system “smart”?

The combination lights for the various areas of application feature an integrated identifier. This means that the lights send signals through the system and therefore ensure that the lights that are connected are detected fully automatically.

A distributor box integrated into every light facilitates the quick and easy plug&play connection of additional lights, such as side marker lights or tail lights.

What’s more, two further optional plug&play distributor boxes are available. These enable the cables of the connected tail lights to be dispersed or merged at a central point in the trailer. Cabling is quick and tidy to install – not to mention free of corrosion. Workshops will be pleased to learn that the system’s installation will help them save a considerable amount of time.

Open cables are avoided with this system and no specialist knowledge is required – the name “plug&play” is a dead give-away! The practical T-nut installation system allows the lights to be mounted easily. It is compatible with the majority of light fixtures: simply select the appropriate screw/stud, align the light with the fixture, tighten it and the job’s done.

The newly added products and the comprehensive range of accessories leave nothing at all to be desired. The system components range from multifunction, rear, side marker and clearance lights to mounting brackets, marker lights and licence plate lighting, position lights, junction/distributor boxes and cable connectors.

To round things off, it goes without saying that LEDs’inno fulfils all of the requisite approval criteria (EMC-R 10, ECE-R 65, ECE-R 48 and EMC). The highest protection class IP69K (dust-tight and protection against high-pressure water jets) for the entire lighting system guarantees a long-lasting service life. The benefits of LED lighting guarantee a useful life that is 20 times longer than conventional lights. Such lighting is thus resistant to impacts and vibration, reduces maintenance costs, minimises energy consumption and is also synonymous with high reliability.
