HellermannTyton presents two fasteners designed for wire management on First Solar’s Series 6 PV modules

Visitors to HellermannTyton's stand at Intersolar Europe 2019 (Hall A2, Booth 119) can see for themselves how two fasteners optimise wire management processes on the new First Solar Series 6 module

Solar wire management specialist HellermannTyton announces two parts specifically designed to fit First Solar Series 6 PV modules. The Series 6 Fir Tree Fastener and Series 6 RPC Hanger have been engineered to maximise the advantages of the innovative First Solar module design, which features shorter leads, and split junction boxes.

“Installers are always on the lookout for products and processes that can reduce time in the field,” says Georg Neureiter, Renewable Energy Market Manager at HellermannTyton. “Because these fasteners are custom-designed for Series 6 modules, they fit like an integrated part of the system. This allows for pre-installation and also makes them more reliable than typical wire management methods.”

Both fasteners have been vetted by First Solar. They are made from high-impact modified, heat-resistant, UV-stabilized material that withstands UV exposure, chemicals and temperature extremes between -40°C and +110°C. No metal comes into contact with wires, reducing the risk of electrical faults caused by sharp metal fasteners.

The Series 6 Fir Tree Fastener head is offset to ensure that bundles remain an ideal distance from the mounting hole. This accommodates non-destructive wind movement and tracker motion.
Benefits at a glance:
  • Exclusive design vetted by First Solar for Series 6
  • Can be pre-installed to modules on the pallet
  • Barrel and offset head reduces abrasion potential
The Series 6 RPC Hanger can be mounted with one hand. The ratcheting clamp automatically centres the bundle and minimises the risk of pinching.
Benefits at a glance:
  • Robust, heavy-duty, chemical-resistant fastener
  • Optimal strain relief at cable transition points
  • Releasable ratchet makes maintenance easy
