Construction of the Assembly Station for Automatic Bundling

(PresseBox) (Tornesch, )
The increase of part quantities and quality demands have created the need for a fully automatic and precise binding and bundling system which offers an economic solution.

To meet the requirements of the market, HellermannTyton developed the Autotool 2000 (AT2000) and Autotool System 3080 (ATS3080) automatic tying systems.

Both tools enable a more efficient and less expensive production by automating the processes of bundling and attaching clips to cable harnesses.

The areas of application in which these tools can be used most effectively are in harness production for the automotive industry, electric appliances manufacturing and the packaging industry.

The two automatic bundling systems can be used for stationary and mobile applications and can also be attached to a robot or integrated into an automatic production line.

A fully automatic implementation of the Autotool 2000 is a stand-alone, used in a manufacturing cell, for example in the white goods industry. The cell is equipped with two automatic changeover tables in which harness boards are integrated. While one board is tied automatically with a bundling speed of 0.8 seconds per cycle, the tied cable harness of the second board can be removed and packaged and a new harness can be prepared.

Integrated into a production line, the ATS3080 can be a fixed component of a filling and sealing station. The plastic bags move from station to station along a conveyor belt. Once the bags have been filled, they are forwarded to the sealing station. There, the plastic towards the top of the bag is gathered together by two V-shaped slide bars to a diameter of approximately 30 mm. Then ATS3080 moves toward the plastic bag and closes the bag with an outside serrated cable tie. The cable tie can also serve as a seal against unauthorized opening of the packaging items.

Both tools are characterized by a variety of benefits. The Autotool 2000 is the smallest comparable tool on the market and is able to process either bands of 50 cable ties or alternatively - reels with a capacity of 3500 ties. The maximum bundle diameter is 20 mm.

The ATS 3080 is the first tool with a waste-free binding process. The device facilitates the bundling of diameters from 0 mm to 80 mm and is able to bind a large number of clips fully automatically. For both tools, the adjustable tension of the tie can be set individually.
