HAVER Innovation Prize 2007 Awarded to Lafarge Cement UK

(PresseBox) (Oelde, )
Lafarge Cement UK in Great Britain was recently awarded the 2007 HAVER Innovation Prize. It’s already become a tradition at the Haver & Boecker Engineering Division to recognise an especially successful cooperation with a customer every year. The HAVER Innovation Prize rewards a customer’s boldness to try out innovative ideas, set new trends and to develop new future technology - with the full support of Haver & Boecker. The Innovation Prize consists of a sculpture crafted by regional artist Paul Toennissen. The sculpture depicts two persons pushing a heavy rectangular stone together – a symbol of working together to overcome challenges and problems.

During a business meeting with representatives of Lafarge Cement UK at Haver & Boecker in Oelde and while wishing a farewell to retiring Lafarge employee Dave Morris, Haver & Boecker Managing Director and Partner Dr. Reinhold Festge presented the Innovation Prize to Allan Hampshire after having recalled many facets of the successful cooperation in this unique project. In 2003 Lafarge Cement UK had approached Haver & Boecker with the challenge to develop a technology that would allow fine powder-type products to be filled into water-resistant PE bags. In accomplishing this feat – through the development of the so-called HAVER ADAMS PROCESS® (HAP) – both companies set new industry standards in filling technology. The needs for more product protection, cleanliness and extended shelf life – even when stored outside exposed to the weather – were completely fulfilled by THE ADAMS®, a technology based on the FFS technology. "We were always open and fair, and we always approached the matter with one target in mind", said Dr. Festge as he emphasised the especially close cooperation during the course of the project.

More machines were ordered after the first ADAMS® rotating machine with eight filling spouts and a filling capacity of 1100 bags per hour had gone successfully into operation in Barnstone at the end of 2004. The order included THE BENJAMIN® compact machines, which are designed for smaller production rates.
