His dissertation titled "Contribution to a systematic investigation of washing and purifying processes" examined washing and purifying processes, as well as the machinery and process-technical parameters involved therein. Dr. Müller devoted himself to this topic with the background that washing and purifying machines for processing mineral-type raw materials are very important, and that they contribute considerably to increasing product quality and reducing the workloads on downstream process steps. Up to then, a systematic investigation of the field had been missing.
Dr. Müller's dissertation is a fundamental contribution to structuring and systemizing the field of washing machinery. As part of the investigation, the current machines were arranged in a system and were compared using technical-economic ratings. Fundamental and experimental investigations led to the development of a concentric shearing fixture for allowing the examination of the machine and process-technical main parameters of the purifying process. The dependencies found therein are important requirements for plant engineering and the new development of corresponding machine technology. Dr. Müller will now commit himself to these tasks within the scope of his activity at HAVER ENGINEERING Meißen.
