Als zweitgrößte Volkwirtschaft weltweit hat sich die VR China zur globalen Werkbank entwickelt. Die europäische Staatengemeinschaft (EU) ist mittlerweile ihr viertgrößter Investitionspartner. Die Bundesrepublik Deutschland ist der größte Investor in China unter den Mitgliedern der EU. Besonders hoch sind die Herausforderungen für die Teamleiter und Teammitglieder gleichermaßen. In der Zusammenarbeit mit chinesischen Partnern kommt es aufgrund unterschiedlicher Verhaltens-, Sprach- und Denkweisen zu Missverständnissen und Fehleinschätzungen.

Um Projektstillstände oder die Überschreitung von Kostenbudgets  gezielt im Vorfeld zu vermeiden, ist der Einfluss von kulturgeprägten Normen und Werten auf die Arbeits- und Entscheidungsprozesse in der deutsch-chinesischen Projektzusammenarbeit zu berücksichtigen. Hierarchie und Zeitmanagement sind dabei entscheidende Erfolgsfaktoren.
