Are battery prices following oil prices?

International Advanced Battery Power conference to take place in Aachen

(PresseBox) (Essen, )
More than 60 speeches and 130 posters will highlight the latest developments in the battery sector at the end of April in Aachen. Joint session with BMBF i-Wing 2015 conference in Dresden.

On 28 and 29 April 2015, Aachen will be the meeting place for the international battery sector. The 7th edition of the Advanced Battery Power conference is being organised jointly by the Institute for Power Electronics and Electrical Drives (ISEA) at RWTH Aachen University with the Electrochemical Energy Storage Systems Research Group, the MEET battery research centre from the Wilhelms University Münster and the Haus der Technik from Essen. With 60 lectures and over 130 scientific posters submitted by participants from all over the world, visitors can expect a varied programme that covers the entire battery value creation chain. The conference offers a great opportunity to find out about the latest developments in the sector - from materials research and the structure of the individual cell/battery through to the practical application of batteries in electric vehicles and stationary storage systems.

The key question regarding the future price of batteries and battery systems will again be the subject of lively discussion by the more than 600 expected participants. Whereas costs for the installation of stationary battery systems for private household use are dropping year on year, electrical vehicles will only start to be really interesting when batteries become cheaper and their range increases. The advances in research into the development of better and cheaper batteries that have been reported during the past few months are right at the top of the agenda at Aachen.

In addition, on the first day of the conference there is a joint live session with the BMBF i-Wing Conference in Dresden. High-profile speakers will be presenting lectures in Dresden and Aachen, which will be transmitted to both locations by live video stream.

The detailed agenda is now available at www.battery-power.eu. The conference language is English.

One day before the international conference on 27 April, Battery Day NRW takes place under the patronage of Svenja Schulze, Minister of Innovation, Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. The focus here is on battery research activities in this German state.

Up to 600 participants are expected at the two events, which are both held in the Eurogress convention centre in Aachen. At the end of the Battery Day NRW and at the end of the second day of the Advanced Battery Power conference, participants will have the opportunity to visit the ISEA. Further details and information on registration, accommodation and travel directions can be found at www.battery-power.eu.
