Delivering a Premium eMobility Experience
“We’re extremely proud to be delivering such a complex project with such exceptional quality demands,” says has·to·be CSO Tobias Scharfen. “Despite Japan’s completely different technical and commercial framework, we’ve succeeded in packaging both the CPO and MSP functions for Porsche Japan, thus smoothing the Taycan’s market entry. Stepping into the Japanese eMobility market is an enormously complex undertaking. Which is why I really want to thank our team, which carried out the entire project on a remote basis from our Austrian headquarters.”
Andre Brand, Head of Corporate Development & Strategy of Porsche Japan KK, is equally excited about the partnership: “We are really excited that with has·to·be gmbh we have gained a strong and immensely knowledgeable partner in the field of EV charging. The be.ENERGISED platform allows us to operate and flexibly scale our advanced and expanding charging infrastructure. Together with has·to·be we have adapted the be.ENERGISED platform to Japanese requirements and are now able to offer the industry-leading Japanese charging solution and a premium EV customer experience.”
Operating Porsche Japan’s Exclusive Charging Infrastructure
The Porsche E-Performance charging infrastructure network is being set up to ensure that owners have enough charging options to keep their all-electric Taycans rolling – no matter where they happen to be. As the Taycan is introduced to Japan, the priority is to install around 50 DC charging stations at selected Porsche dealer locations. be.ENERGISED will handle reliable charging infrastructure operation and monitoring, with additional 24/7 English-language support for both the dealers and the local subsidiary. A further 200 AC charging stations have been confirmed for installation in 2021 – and the door is open for more expansion phases beyond that. This is no problem for be.ENERGISED, which is designed to adapt and scale in accordance with client requirements or changed market conditions.
Combining the Porsche and Charging Experiences in a Single App
Owners will have exclusive use of Porsche’s eMobility service. A white label app – the latest step in the company’s eMobility offering, will allow them premium access to the Porsche charging network. Once they’ve downloaded the app, they’ll be able to authenticate using their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The app will then identify the user as a Porsche customer. The structure, display and layout has been adapted to suit the Japanese market. The app makes it easy for the user to locate any Porsche charging stations – and also serves as a direct user interface. Scanning a QR code (also adapted for Japan) on the charge point unit begins the charging session – which can be billed directly to a credit card. All compatible public charging stations of the Nippon Charging Service1 are also visible in the app
1 A joint Venture between Nissan, Honda and Mitsubishi. Supported by the Development Bank of Japan (DBJ), its goal is to promote the development of the Japanese charging infrastructure.
