HARTING presents new heroine Dr. Metrix at SPS IPC Drives

M12 PushPull connector for the automation market

(PresseBox) (Espelkamp / Nuremberg, )
HARTING has an answer to pressing questions surrounding the further development of circular connectors for the automation sector: DR. METRIX! Featuring the strived-for, overarching standard of an M12 PushPull solution for protruding and recessed device sockets, the new HARTING heroine solves automation problems.

A trio becomes a quartet. While Captain ix, Twister and MissM8ty have dedicated themselves to miniaturisation and the transmission of high data rates since 2016, Dr. Metrix brings additional strengths to the table. HARTING's new heroine stands for clever PushPull technology on metric circular connectors and seconds-fast connection. Here at SPS IPC Drives, she stands specifically for a comprehensive M12 PushPull solution in the field of factory automation. Fast and easy handling are key arguments for PushPull locking technology. Whether sensor or control – with PushPull for factory automation, they can be installed efficiently (Plug&Produce).

The entire field of circular connectors is in transition. Manufacturers of connection technology are taking great strides towards tool-free PushPull locking techniques. Now, as part of ongoing standardisation efforts - which HARTING is actively promoting - the push is on to find suitable universal standards for M12 PushPull interlocks. These create investment security for the customer and meet the requirements of the M12 as a familiar, standardised interface. While previous solutions snap into place with a characteristic ‘click’ on the outside on protruding sockets, the first steps have been taken on the road to M12 PushPull sockets which feature internal locking and which can be installed very flat without an outer collar - one of the key requirements of the automation industry. Whether on the sensor side or on the sensor/actuator box, HARTING has a suitable solution for every application. The Technology Group is geared to the key requirements of the automation industry.

More and more manufacturers of industrial connection technology rely on time-saving and easy-to-use PushPull concepts for their connectors. The classic screw lock of the M12 circular connector is becoming an annoying time-waster when it comes to mounting numerous interfaces. In a direct comparison of M12 PushPull to the familiar screw locking, the new locking technology can be connected some 75% faster.

In response to this, HARTING entered the ‘Rail’ market segment just under three years ago with an M12 PushPull solution. In the interim, the HARTING solution has become a well-known and set solution that is specially tailored to the needs of railway users.

These needs have become increasingly louder in some areas within the automation sector, and pertain to e.g. simple and safe operation, acoustic feedback, and time and cost savings. HARTING is now meeting these demands and is actively promoting the standardisation of a comprehensive M12 PushPull market standard. In the end, there will be an IEC 61076-2-010 that will provide one comprehensive solution for transportation and one for factory automation, creating investment security for users.

Dr. Metrix – the future M12 PushPull standard for all factory automation.
