HAMILTON and Gen-Probe launch new workstation for automated HLA testing

(PresseBox) (Martinsried, )
Hamilton announces the launch of solutions for HLA antibody screening and identification as well as HLA DNA typing methods based on Gen-Probe’s LIFECODES HLA reagents and Hamilton’s MICROLAB® STAR liquid handling workstation.

The need for fast and accurate screening of patients and donors, while eliminating human errors and intervention, leads to a large demand for automating HLA technologies. Hamilton and Gen-Probe are proud to offer this combined product to fill this gap in the market.

Hamilton’s unique and patented air-based pipetting technology enables monitoring of samples from aspiration to dispense, resulting in unparalleled process safety. The STAR Line’s Venus One software offers seamless data tracking, with barcode reading, sample list handling, and scheduling for an optimised workflow and throughput. The solution includes thoroughly tested protocols that ensure reproducible results independent from the environment where they are executed.

This process safety and reproducibility make the new Hamilton solution for Gen-Probe’s LIFECODES HLA reagents the clear choice for histocompatibility and transplant immunology labs that require a high degree of multiplexing and throughput – reducing costs and boosting productivity. The platform is designed to offer more security, higher reliability and faster results.

Hamilton now offers the complete range of automation solutions for blood banks and HLA typing Labs. From DNA-isolation workstations to DNA typing and antibody detection and biobanking storage systems, Hamilton delivers solutions for all needs.

Gen-Probe is a leading provider of diagnostic products in the field of transplant immunology and genetic disease predisposition testing. Gen-Probe’s transplant diagnostics business introduced one of the first commercial molecular HLA typing kits based on LIFECODES technology.
The protocols for both HLA DNA typing and HLA antibody detection are homogeneous and do not require difficult centrifugation steps. Gen-Probe’s analysis software automatically receives data from the reading instrument and eliminates the need for manual data import.
